In the early 1900's in Chicago, our family pioneered leasing when our Great Uncle Harry Grossman became partner and legal counsel to John Hertz when they owned Horse Stables and rented the buggies and horses on a short and long term basis. The company grew as Automobiles became popular and the name Hertz was becoming legendary in Chicago. The company in the 1920's founded Yellow Motors and the Yellow Cab Company was created. Our family built the Yellow Cab on the outskirts of the city of Chicago where an assembly plant was established. In 1926 our Uncle Harry arranged for the sale of the Hertz portfolio to General Motors. Uncle Harry left his law firm and the city of Chicago to become Chairman of the board of Hertz under General Motors. He was responsible for creating YMAC as the Truck financing division of General Motors and became Senior Vice President and Legal counsel for General Motors.

Our father, Raymond Shane was the owner of Associated GMC Truck Company in Chicago from 1946 to 1961 and sold his dealership to Avis Rent A Car. They were interested in my father's dealership due to the satellite offices set up in the Midwest by our father. Our father had incorporated a leasing division in his dealership that led the country in sales for several years. When the Dealership was sold, our father signed a non-compete clause relating to Auto and Truck leasing. This is when our family decided to enter into the equipment leasing and financing areas.

For the past twenty-nine years, Associated Leasing International Corp. has been headquartered in South Florida. We are a diversified corporation providing total world-wide financial and travel services through the Associated group of companies and our offices in principal cities throughout the world.
